Overview and Responsibilities

Provides overall coordination of the research efforts of the Cancer Center and multiple Principal Investigator's (PI's).

Supervises Cancer Center staff, including but not limited to, Clinical Research Nurses, Clinical Research Coordinators,

and Data Managers.


Works directly with Cancer Center  Assistant Director and Director, PI's , and Cancer Center staff to ensure that all

internal and external regulatory agency policies, procedures, practices, and laws are adhered to by all clinical research



Reviews all protocols to ensure the appropriate resources and staffing are available.


Should have extensive experience in managing clinical research studies activities and have a background that may include patient care,

biostatistics, data management and/or clinical research.


Carries out broad assignments with minimal supervision.


Uses independent judgment and experience to solve all but the most complex problems.


Performs other duties as assigned.





Minimum Required


Six (6) years related work experience, four

(4) years of which must have been in clinical research.


One (1) year of supervisory/managerial experience required.


Preferred / Desired


More than six (6) years related work experience, four (4) years of which must

have been in clinical research.



More than one (1) year of supervisory/managerial

experience required.




Minimum Required


Bachelor's Degree in nursing.




Computer literacy, good working knowledge

of Good Clinical Practice Guidelines, IRB

review and federal regulations.  


Must maintain appropriate professional



Must have completed appropriate training in the protection of

human subjects within one month of hire.




Certified Clinical Research Professional with COCRA or

ACRP within one year of employment. RN
